GraveThe entryway to my apartment has always been rather depressing.  So I was super excited when my neighbor suggested we capitalize on it’s darkness and transform it with spooky Halloween decorations.  It was the most fun I’ve had in a long time.

Orelia even got in on the action and supervised our work.  She’s pretty pleased with it.  Now if I can just make sure she doesn’t use the bathroom on the leaves in the graveyard, we’ll be golden.

Saturday Morning Ritual

I recently started a new ritual that always kicks the weekend off on the right foot.  I sleep in past 8 am.  I roll out of bed and into sweats.  Orelia and I pick up the newspaper on the stoop and stroll down to Union Street.  After oohing and aahing at the Golden Gate Bridge and the Pacific Ocean in the distance, we plop ourselves down at Cafe des Amis.

Yes.  The usual, please.  Water bowl for her.  Quiche Florentine (ie quiche with bacon and spinach) with a glass of orange juice for me.  I read the paper.  I people watch.  Orelia barks at small children as they stroll by with their parents.  We both leave fulfilled and happy.

Until next Saturday…

Orelia Mae Likes

{A few things Orelia Mae is digging these days: 1) Ikat Dog Bed via One King’s Lane; 2) Best Dog Toy via; 3) Stella & Chewy’s Duck Duck Goose Dinner (Orelia won’t eat a single meal without this sprinkled on top.); 4) Keep Calm and Walk the Dog Pillow via Joss & Main; 5) Doggy Disco via Zoom Room. (If only they had a branch in San Francisco!)}

Easter Weekend

It was a rainy weekend in San Francisco, which meant lots of lounging, comfort food and reading on the couch with Orelia.  I did venture out for a 90-minute massage at Mindful Body and felt blissfully relaxed for a good 48 hours afterwards.

Orelia got the cutest haircut at Wags and spent the weekend playing with her latest toy from her grandma…a stuffed pink bunny rabbit almost as adorable as Orelia herself.  Thanks, Mom!

And talk about comfort food.  I was craving pasta Saturday night but too lazy to cook.  So I headed to Jackson Fillmore to pick up spaghetti carbonara for takeout.  It totally hit the spot.  And on Easter Sunday, my friend M made a delicious meal of salad with apples, candied walnuts, blue cheese, out of this world deviled eggs, risotto with scallops and spinach and an amazing melt in your mouth chocolate mouse with homemade whipped cream.  I can’t wait to dig into leftovers later today.  Thanks so much, M.

Dogs Are People Too

In my obsession with all things French, I recently bookmarked the French Vogue website to get my daily fix.  I was delighted when I came across these whimsical images of Weimaraners modeling Acne apparel by photographer William Wegman.  C’est si bon!
